They are particularly well-suited for compact backup power systems that use supercapacitors. MinebeaMitsumi MM4039 is a control IC that manages the charging and discharging of supercapacitors for power backup in both 3.3V and 5V systems. It charges the supercapacitor while simultaneously supplying power to the system from the main power source. In the event of a power supply failure, MM4039 automatically switches to backup mode, using the supercapacitor to continue powering the system. During a power outage, the IC will switch to backup operation and use power from the super capacitor to sustain the system. This ensures a smooth transition and enables safe shutdown of critical components such a the microcontroller, memory during outages.
