4 to 7 cells Li-ion/polymer battery protection IC

MinebeaMitsumi offers a wide range of battery ICs, supporting configurations from single-cell to multi-cell battery packs. These ICs are suitable for a variety of applications, from mobile devices to electric bicycles. Designed with high detection accuracy and rich functionality, these battery ICs ensure safe charging and reliable protection of rechargeable batteries. Designed using a high-voltage CMOS process, MinebeaMitsumi ICs provide comprehensive protection for rechargeable Lithium-ion and Lithium-polymer batteries. The MM3787 series are protection ICs developed using a high-voltage CMOS process, designed to provide overcharge, overdischarge, overcurrent, temperature protection, and cell balance control for rechargeable Lithium-ion or Lithium-polymer batteries. They can detect overcharge, overdischarge, discharge overcurrent, charge overcurrent, and short-circuit conditions in battery packs consisting of 4 to 7 cells. Additionally, temperature monitoring using an external NTC thermistor and active cell balancing are supported. The internal circuitry includes a voltage detector, reference voltage source, oscillator, counter circuit, and logic circuit, among other components. Multiple ICs can be used in a stacked configuration, enabling a low-cost and space-efficient protection solution for battery packs with more than 7 cells.
