They can detect a variety of fault conditions in single-cell rechargeable lithium-ion or lithium-polymer batteries, including overcharge, overdischarge, discharge overcurrent, short-circuit and charge overcurrent from the charger. Each IC integrates four voltage detectors, a short-circuit detection circuit, reference voltage sources, an oscillator, a counter circuit and logical circuits.
