Digital output infrared sensor

MinebeaMitsumi MMS702 is an infrared sensor based on MEMS thermopile technology. It is a multi-pixel sensor featuring an array of eight elements arranged in a single row, enabling temperature acquisition across multiple angular regions over a wide field of view. The sensor measures the surface temperature of objects without physical contact by detecting the infrared radiation they emit. It provides digital output values representing the objects’ surface temperatures. Communication is handled via an I²C interface. The sensor’s own internal temperature can also be measured.

MMS702 features :

  • Low noise level
Noise-Equivalent Temperature Difference (NETD): below 0.06℃
  • Pinpoint temperature measurement can be acquired over a wide field of view (FOV) greater than 50°, using 8 pixels (5.5° per pixel)
  • Temperature values are directly available
The output provides an ambient-temperature-compensated object temperature, making it ideal for rapid application engineering
  • he sensor is easy to mount thanks to a connector and does not require a dedicated board
Other electrical connection options are also possible (e.g. pin header)

MMS702 applications:

  • Home electric appliances (refrigerator, air conditioner, microwave oven, etc.)
  • Detection of human body
  • Gestures and other contactless temperature monitoring
