The MM3638 series are protection ICs designed for lithium-ion and lithium-polymer batteries. They protect the battery pack against overcharge, overdischarge, overcurrent and other abnormal conditions by controlling the FET switches. In single-cell battery packs, overcurrent detection is performed using the on-resistance of the FET switch. The MM3638 achieves highly accurate overcurrent protection with no temperature dependence by using a chip resistor.
