Designed using a high-voltage CMOS process, MinebeaMitsumi ICs provide comprehensive protection for rechargeable Lithium-ion and Lithium-polymer batteries. They protect against overcharge, overdischarge, overcurrent during charging and discharging, as well as short circuits. They integrate four voltage detectors, a short-circuit detection circuit, reference voltage sources, an oscillator, a counter circuit, and logic circuits to ensure reliable and efficient battery protection. MM3638 is a protection IC designed for lithium-ion and lithium-polymer batteries. It protects battery packs from overcharging, overdischarging, and overcurrent by controlling the FET switch. In single-cell battery packs, the on-resistance of the FET switch has traditionally been used for overcurrent detection. However, the MM3638 achieves highly accurate overcurrent protection with no temperature dependence by using a chip resistor.
